Gröditz

The Gröditz is a suppressive fire unit in the form of a bi-pedal walker, functionally a tank with legs.

Unit Overview

The Gröditz is a suppressive fire unit in the form of a bi-pedal walker, functionally a tank with legs. Gröditz are outfitted with Chronite armor and dual machine guns that can provide intense focus fire or spread out damage into enemy groups. Gröditz require an Armory to be built when using a Barracks, but don’t need one in the Arsenal.

Strengths

Universal Targeting

Gröditz inflict the same damage with no drawbacks no matter if they’re fighting air or ground units, making them effective at suppressing both fronts.

Defense Against Infantry and Kinetic

Chronite armor significantly reduces incoming Infantry and Kinetic damage, found on early and mid-game units like Marines, A25-Romans, Gröditz, and Phantoms. Gröditz can provide a defensible wall against such units if enough are amassed, and often will stop infantry advances with their presence alone, though they can struggle against android units.

Weaknesses

Pulse/Positron Vulnerability

Gröditz will find difficulty dealing with Scouts and Snipers, since both use weaponry made to counter Chronite armor. Since Snipers also outrange Gröditz, they are likely to put one down if enough fire all at once against them, same with Scout swarms. Hover Tanks are especially deadly, dealing high damage and easily negating the defensive power Chronite bears.

Crowd Congestion

Gröditz lack the proper crowd clearing Phantoms possess with their splash damage, making Gröditz less effective against large groups of units. They’re better used against singular or minimal targets, or units with low health and armor.

Slow Movement

Gröditz move faster than Chronite Tanks but still move slowly, struggling against more evasive units and prone to being kited by them.

Combat Strategies

Suppressive Frontline

Place Gröditz in front of units such as Snipers and Chronite Tanks, so they can serve as a defensive frontline that deals chip damage to incoming threats whilst baiting missiles, Sniper shots, and Scout swarms. With sufficient healing from Meditecs, they can outheal the received chip damage to give the units behind them room to keep firing.

Base Whittling

Gröditz outrange the base, allowing them to fire at it from a safe distance without retaliation. Putting a few Gröditz behind a pin close to the base will put more pressure on the base, encouraging a weaker retaliation that can be countered to make the opponent waste resources.
